HBK Martial Arts and Wellness
Our Shotokan Karate-jitsu program teaches students the techniques of several martial art forms and is led by 8th dan karate expert, Grandmaster Hanshi Fred Walker. Shotokan Karate-jitsu is the most popular Japanese karate style in the world. This approach focuses on straight and powerful technique.
We teach techniques from other martial arts such as judo and aikido and Shijitsu-nai Kudo. These techniques are taught to meld with our root style ensuring skills at distance and close range fighting.
Our intention is to develop a well rounded student in the martial arts, and believe that exposure to a variety of techniques and principles is very important. Our Expert Instructors
Sensei Jim Shullman had approx. 5 years martial arts experience before joining HBK in 2001. Since joining HBK he has achieved a black sash in Ba Qua Zahng and a second degree black belt in Shotokan Karate.
Renshi Brian Norrish is a 6th degree black belt in karate and has been a chief instructor at Hiryu Bushido Kai for 25 years.
8th degree black belt in karate and a 5th degree black belt in judo. He is the head instructor of Hiryu Bushido Kai Martial Arts, and is an instructor of Iaido, BaGua Zhang, and Shinjitsu-Nai Ku-Do.
