Karate-Jitsu

Our Shotokan Karate-jitsu program teaches students the techniques of this Japanese-style martial art form and is led by 8th dan karate expert, Grandmaster Hanshi Fred Walker.

Shotokan Karate-jitsu is the most popular Japanese karate style in the world. This approach focuses on straight and powerful technique. In the HBK Martial Arts Karate-jitsu program, we also teach technique from Judo, Aikido BaQua Zhang and Shinjitsu-nai.

Our intention is to develop a well rounded student in the martial arts. That’s why we believe exposure to a variety of techniques and principles is very important. Students will have the option of studying a weapon. This will assist in the understanding of empty hand technique.

The martial arts were originally aimed towards life preservation and self-defense, but today people come from all walks of life with their own set of reasons for wanting to train. Some want to learn self-defense, others want to fight in tournaments, some seek to become physically fit. Others just want to have fun. Whatever the reason you choose, you will find others just like yourself studying at HBK Martial Arts. This is why the Hiryu Bushido Kai Martial Arts Centre has developed teaching methods that will not only help you to learn the art of self defense quickly and easily, but it will also provide a wide range of benefits for students of all ages.

CONFIDENCE, FOCUS, RESPECT, SELF-DISCIPLINE, BULLY PROOFING, STRESS BUSTER, BE YOUNGER, SELF-DEFENCE.

Tai Chi

The Tai-Chi program is taught by Sensei Cathy Walker. Cathy is a 2nd degree black belt in karate and a Reiki master. She has studied the internal art of Tai Chi for 8 years and continues her studies with Sifu Chi Wai Lee.

The Tai-Chi program is approached from both a health and martial arts aspect. Beginners begin with the Yang style short form and move on to learn a series of Chi Kung exercises and a longer, more in depth form called Dan Lu Taijiquan (Daon Lou Taai Gik Kuen). The speed is steady and movements flow continuously. Yang Style is simple: Using Jing (internal power) is like drawing silk from a cocoon. Breathing is natural and enhances the flow of Chi (vital energy stream) to the lower dantien (the place about one and a half inches below the navel).

HBK Martial Arts students will move on to learn various weapons based on the Yang style, such as the long sword, broadsword, staff, spear, and fan. During this time students are also learning the martial application of their forms, helping them to develop a deeper understanding of the form and their own bodies in regards to balance, co-ordination, energy movement, and body alignment.

Yang style practice is simple, neat, and more suitable for all ages and health conditions than many other styles. Yang style of Tai-Chi has a simple structure, yet in some ways, it’s also elaborate. Its body posture is centrally balanced—not leaning towards any sides. Its movements are soft, stately, full and round, smooth, with combined soft and hard movements, agile, light, and steady. Practice entails transitions from loose to soft, and soft gradually becoming hard, and then soft and hard together. Its frame has high, middle, and low stances. Which stance Yang style practitioners choose to use depends on the age, gender, weaknesses, or strength of the practitioner. Yang style Tai Chi can also be used for physical therapy, rehabilitation, and faster recovery from sickness. Continued practice adds strength and improvement to the practitioner’s technique. Correct Yang Style Tai Chi practice expresses its lordly, majestic, and graceful appearance.

Shinjitsu Nai Ku-Do

Shinjitsu Nai Ku-Do: 9 Paths to the Truth Within |
Shin-jitsu-nai Ku-do is a martial system focusing on energy at the quantum level. It is based on internal energy understanding and application in the simplest concepts, yet it will not lend itself to children as students.

Extremely Effective Holistic Approach
Concepts and principles of Shinjitsu Nai Ku-Do:

Soft energy is dominant over hard energy.
One’s centre is found and maintained at all times.
Awareness of internal energy is understood and central to all.
Meditation, mostly standing, is a daily practice.
Dynamic stillness is central to energy generation.
Reacting is replaced with responding.
Mushin is sought along with Zanshin.
Fixed action patterns are learned but are not central.
No forms memorized and repeated for evaluation.
There are two volumes to assist students in there studies: workbooks and journal guides. Students can follow and make notes while learning. These will be very valuable as personal reference resources as time goes on.

Why the Shinjitsu Nai Ku-Do System?

Over the last 55 years of Henshi Walker’s studies and research of several martial arts, he found there seemed to be something missing in each one. He concerned himself with the arrogance of setting something up to fill these missing areas, but as time moved on it became clear that he had earned the right to share what he found to be true and lacking. This is it.

Shinjitsu Nai Ku-do covers a wide range of possibilities and offers skills in personal health, healing, and, if necessary, doing harm to another. HBK Martial Arts focuses on compassion, even in situations of conflict. Students must want to understand themselves and how they work first. And by doing so, they will learn of others, which will lead to understanding, which will lead to compassion.

Shinjitsu Nai Ku-do is a relaxed, enjoyable martial art format that will enhance one’s health and ability to appreciate and enjoy life.

CONTACT HANSHI FRED WALKER FOR MORE INFORMATION AT fredhwalker@gmail.com
THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY FOR A FEW SPECIAL INDIVIDUALS WITH SOME MARTIAL ARTS EXPERIENCE AND A THURST FOR A MORE ADVANCED APPROACH. YOU WILL BE ACCEPTED AS A STUDENT ONCE MEETING Hanshi Walker and both are ready to commit to the program and each other.
